The Rosemarie Barnard Shield is a new venture for BFF. This is supported by Rosemarie Barnard who is a regular singer at local events and a sufferer of Parkinson’s Disease.
Rosemarie is passionate about encouraging people to sing for its health and mental health benefits. She is providing the winners shield . This will take place in The Three Tuns on Saturday 6th Sept from 2 - 4.30pm. Advance registering for your team is essential. All rules and details are included below.
Rosemarie Barnard Chorus Shield : Rules & Such.
Group size: 3- 6 persons
No accompanying instrumentation.
Any song, traditional or contemporary, in a folk style with a dominant chorus element.
Entrants are politely requested to keep the duration of their songs below the 5-minute mark.
The use of written prompts by performers is strongly discouraged and may influence the judge’s decisions where observed.
This is an amateur competition. Please no professional, or semi- pro, groups. Entries will not be accepted by groups of singers who have collectively been engaged by Bungay Folk Festival, past or present.
Entrants are strongly encouraged to attend for the duration of Chorus Cup event to encourage and appreciate other participants. Awards will not be made in absentia.
Audience participation is encouraged, but we would ask that performers are allowed the space to sing at least their first chorus without the audience joining in (for the benefit of the performers and to aid the competition judges).
Attempts to bribe the judges with alcohol and other favours will be warmly received, but with no reciprocal guarantees.
The decisions of the judging panel are final.
The winning team will be invited to sing their song at the start of the Folk Picnic on Sunday 7th September at 12.00 Noon (approx!)
